Profession
Product Engineer
From concept to manufactured product
A mechanical product engineer develops new products from first concept to production. Your day might include creating 3D models, running simulations, testing prototypes, choosing materials, solving problems found in testing, and working with manufacturers to make sure the design can be built consistently. You collaborate with designers, other engineers, quality teams, and suppliers, splitting time between the computer, the lab, and sometimes the factory floor. Testing is a big part of the work, because a product has to survive heat, vibration, drops, and years of use.
