Profession
Workforce Planning Specialist
Planning for the future workforce
A workforce planning specialist helps an organization figure out how many people, with which skills, it will need in the months and years ahead, and how to get there. You look at business goals, hiring and turnover patterns, retirements, new technology, and budgets, then build scenarios and recommendations. A normal week might include pulling data from human resources systems, building forecasts in spreadsheets or analytics tools, meeting with department leaders about upcoming needs, and presenting options such as hiring, training current staff, reorganizing, or using contractors.
