Profession
Precision Irrigation Specialist
The right water, in the right place, at the right time.
A precision irrigation specialist designs and manages systems that give crops or landscapes the right amount of water at the right time. Your work may involve selecting drip lines, pumps, valves, and sensors, installing controllers, reading soil moisture and weather data, and adjusting schedules from a phone or computer. You visit fields, orchards, vineyards, or golf courses to troubleshoot, and work with growers, equipment suppliers, and water managers. Good design also saves energy, because pumping water is often one of the largest costs on a farm.
