Profession
Neurophysiologist
Electrophysiology of the nervous system
A neurophysiologist studies or tests how the nervous system works. Depending on the setting, you may run clinical tests that record electrical activity in the brain, nerves, and muscles, or conduct research experiments to understand how nerve cells communicate. In a clinical lab, you prepare patients, place electrodes, run recordings, and help physicians interpret the results. In a research lab, you design experiments, analyze data, write papers, and apply for funding.
