Profession
Neurologist
Diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases
A neurologist is a physician who diagnoses and treats disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. You see patients with headaches, seizures, stroke, memory loss, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, neuropathy, and many other conditions. Much of your work is listening closely to a patient's story, performing a careful neurological exam, and deciding which tests, such as brain imaging or nerve studies, will help. You then build a treatment plan and follow how patients respond over time.
