Profession
Executive Recruiter
Positioning leaders in the market
As an executive recruiter, you find and hire senior leaders, like directors, vice presidents, and C-suite executives, for the companies that need them. Day to day, you meet with employers to nail down exactly what kind of leader they want, then search for candidates, often reaching out to accomplished people who aren't actively job hunting. You screen resumes, run deep interviews, check references, and coach candidates through the process. You also manage the delicate back-and-forth of salary and offer negotiations between both sides. A big part of the job is discretion, since you're frequently talking to people who don't want their current boss to know they're exploring other options.
