Profession
Industrial Pharmacist
Quality and safety in drug production
An industrial pharmacist works in the companies that develop and manufacture medicines, rather than in a pharmacy that dispenses them. Your day might involve reviewing batch records, investigating a quality deviation on the production line, helping validate equipment, writing procedures, or preparing for an inspection. Some roles focus on formulation, others on quality assurance, quality control, or manufacturing operations. Your goal is to make sure every dose that leaves the plant is made correctly and consistently, following good manufacturing practices that regulators such as the FDA expect. You work with chemists, engineers, technicians, and regulatory staff.
