Profession
Aeronautical Engineer
The science of flight
You design and improve aircraft and the systems that keep them flying safely. Day to day you work on wings, propulsion, structures, or control systems, running calculations and simulations, testing components, and refining designs so a plane is both efficient and safe. Much of the job is at a computer using modeling and analysis software, but you also spend time with test data, wind tunnels, and manufacturing teams. You collaborate closely with other engineers, since an aircraft is a huge system where every part affects the rest.
