Profession
Sound Designer
Creates immersive soundscapes.
A sound designer creates the sounds that bring films, games, theater, podcasts, and apps to life. You might record footsteps and ambient noise, build effects from synthesizers and libraries, edit dialogue, or design the signature sound of a creature, vehicle, or interface. You work closely with directors, game designers, editors, and composers to match the mood and story, then layer, mix, and refine sounds until they feel right. Most of the work happens in a studio or at a computer with audio software, with occasional field recording trips.
