Profession
Prompt Engineer
Make the most of language models.
A prompt engineer designs the instructions, examples, and context that tell a large language model what to do, and then tests whether the model does it reliably. In a business setting, that can mean writing prompts for a customer support assistant, a document summarizer, or an internal search tool, then evaluating outputs for accuracy, tone, safety, and consistency. You build test sets, compare versions, log failures, and work with product managers, software engineers, and subject matter experts to tune behavior. A lot of the work is careful reading and iteration rather than writing code from scratch.
