Profession
Medical Physicist
Physics that saves lives.
A medical physicist applies physics to healthcare, most often in radiation oncology and medical imaging. In a cancer center you might calibrate radiation machines, check treatment plans so that doses reach the tumor and spare healthy tissue, and run quality assurance tests. In imaging you may help optimize MRI, CT, or X-ray systems for image quality and safety. You work beside radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, radiologists, and therapists, and you are often the person the team turns to for technical questions. Safety culture is strong in this field, with regular checks and independent verification before treatments begin.
