Profession
Family and Inheritance Lawyer
It protects family rights.
As a family and estate lawyer, you help people through some of the most personal legal moments of their lives. On the family side, you handle divorces, child custody and support, prenuptial agreements, and adoptions. On the estate side, you help clients plan what happens to their money and property after they die, drafting wills and trusts and guiding families through probate, the court process of settling an estate. Day to day, you meet with clients, listen to emotional situations, draft legal documents, negotiate agreements, and sometimes argue cases in court. You need both legal skill and a good deal of compassion, since your clients are often going through grief, conflict, or major life change.
