Profession
Real Estate Developer
Transforming land into developments.
A real estate developer turns land or an existing building into a finished project, whether housing, offices, retail, or mixed use. You identify opportunities, study the market, negotiate for land or buildings, secure zoning and permits, line up financing and investors, hire architects and contractors, and oversee construction. After completion you may sell the property, lease it, or hold it long term. Your days mix financial modeling, meetings with city officials and partners, site visits, and constant problem solving as conditions change.
