Profession
Educational psychologist
Identifies and treats learning difficulties.
An educational psychologist helps children, teens, and sometimes adults understand how they learn and what gets in the way. You might observe a student in class, review school records, talk with parents and teachers, and use standardized assessments to look at attention, memory, reading, math, and emotional wellbeing. Then you explain what you found in plain language and recommend support, such as classroom strategies, individualized education plans, counseling, or referrals. Much of your time goes to writing clear reports and collaborating with a whole team around a student.
