Profession
Obstetrician
Following life from the very beginning.
An obstetrician is a physician who cares for women during pregnancy, childbirth, and recovery. You provide prenatal checkups, order and interpret tests, manage conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes in pregnancy, deliver babies vaginally and by cesarean, and respond to emergencies. Most obstetricians are trained as obstetrician-gynecologists, so you also provide general women's health care. Your schedule often combines clinic days with surgery, hospital rounds, and being on call for deliveries at unpredictable hours.
