Profession
Occupational Therapist
Independence and quality of life
An occupational therapist helps people do the everyday activities that matter to them, such as dressing, cooking, working, driving, or going to school, after an injury, illness, or disability, or while living with a lasting condition. You assess what a person can do and what gets in the way, set goals together, and build a plan that may include exercises, adaptive tools, changes at home or work, and new strategies. You work with children, adults, and older adults, often alongside physicians, teachers, physical therapists, and families.
