Profession
Muralist
Large-scale art in the streets
A muralist creates large-scale artwork on walls and other big surfaces, such as buildings, schools, businesses, and public spaces. Your work moves from talking with clients and communities about what the piece should say, to sketching and getting approvals, preparing the wall, and then painting, often using ladders, lifts, scaffolds, and a team of assistants. You also handle budgets, permits, weather, and protective coatings, so the mural lasts.
