Integrated Planning Manager
S&OP that connects the entire company.
You are the person who keeps a company's plans in sync across every department. As an integrated planning manager, you lead what is often called the sales and operations planning process, bringing together demand forecasts, supply capacity, production schedules, inventory, and finance into a single, coordinated plan. Day to day, you run cross-functional meetings, dig into data to spot gaps between what the company expects to sell and what it can actually make, and help leaders make trade-offs between cost, service, and risk. You are the connective tissue that keeps sales, operations, and finance rowing in the same direction. Most people in this role earn a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, operations, or engineering. Real experience in planning, logistics, or operations is essential, and many managers grow into the role over several years. Professional certifications from ASCM, formerly APICS, such as the CPIM and CSCP credentials, are well respected and show you understand the discipline deeply. In the United States, the jobs are at manufacturers, retailers, consumer goods companies, and large distribution and logistics operations, essentially anywhere that has to match supply with demand at scale. Careers often begin in a planning or analyst role, move up to senior planner, and grow toward integrated planning manager and director of supply chain or operations. This career fits you if you are a big-picture systems thinker who is also comfortable digging into the details of data. You can lead a meeting full of people with competing priorities and guide them to a shared plan, staying calm and objective when the numbers do not line up. You balance analysis with people skills and thrive on bringing order to complexity. If you like being the person who makes the whole operation run smoothly, this is a rewarding path.
