As an FP&A manager, you lead the financial planning and analysis process for a company or a business unit. Strong spreadsheet and finance software abilities are expected, along with the judgment that comes from having seen how plans play out over several cycles. Employers span nearly every industry, because companies of all kinds need strong financial planning to grow wisely. Larger organizations have full FP&A teams that a manager leads, while mid-sized companies may have a single manager overseeing the whole function. Careers typically build from analyst to senior analyst to manager, then can continue toward director of FP&A, vice president of finance, or chief financial officer. The role sits close to leadership, making it a strong stepping stone. This path fits you if you are strong with numbers and also enjoy leading people and shaping decisions.
