You make sure children and teens keep learning even while they're in the hospital. Experience working with children, whether through student teaching or volunteering, helps you prepare for this sensitive role. These positions exist within children's hospitals, pediatric units, and hospital school programs, sometimes run in partnership with local school districts. The roles are specialized, so there aren't as many as in traditional schools, but they are deeply valued. Many hospital educators come from a classroom teaching background and move into this work because they want to support the most vulnerable students.
